Sun Kissed Frozen Orange Cream (Print)

Refreshing frozen blend of fresh orange juice and vanilla ice cream, perfectly creamy and icy for summer cooling.

# What You Need:

→ Citrus & Fruit

01 - 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (about 4–5 oranges)
02 - 1 tablespoon orange zest

→ Creamy Base

03 - 1 cup vanilla ice cream
04 - 1/2 cup heavy cream
05 - 1/2 cup whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)

→ Sweetener & Extras

06 - 2 tablespoons honey or granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
07 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
08 - 2 cups ice cubes

# How To Make It:

01 - Add the freshly squeezed orange juice, orange zest, vanilla ice cream, heavy cream, whole milk, honey or sugar, and vanilla extract into a blender.
02 - Add the ice cubes to the blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and slushy in texture.
03 - Taste the slush and add more honey or sugar if desired, depending on the natural sweetness of the oranges.
04 - Pour into chilled glasses and serve right away. Garnish with an orange slice or a fresh mint sprig if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It tastes like a creamsicle grew up and went to culinary school, with real citrus punch and none of the artificial aftertaste.
  • Ten minutes and a blender are all you need, which means no oven, no stove, and no heating up an already unbearable kitchen.
02 -
  • Do not let the finished slush sit around, because it separates quickly and turns into a sad, watery shadow of itself within twenty minutes.
  • Zesting before juicing is not optional, because once you cut the oranges open it becomes nearly impossible to get good zest off the pieces.
03 -
  • Freeze some of your orange juice in ice cube trays ahead of time and use those instead of regular ice for an even more intense citrus flavor.
  • Let the ice cream sit out for five minutes before blending so it incorporates smoothly without leaving frozen lumps.
